kensblog_thumb_thumbWhile the ‘professional politicians’ spouted off and bickered about what ‘professional politicians’ usually spout off and bicker about, I revealed a vision for Cuyahoga County at yesterday's City Club Debate.

While they gave platitudes, I laid out a substantive vision for the future.

That’s the difference in this campaign, everything I say is backed by 40 years of experience turning around businesses and creating jobs. They just talked about what they could do. I talked about what I can and will do.

“Good afternoon. Come with me into the future as your County Executive. Today is October 13, 2014, four years into the Ken Lanci Administration.

We live in a county that is creating private sector jobs, just as I did during my 40 years in business. The jobs created by the casino and medical mart were kept in the hands of county residents because I worked with Tri-C to develop training programs for those jobs before they arrived. And those weren't the only jobs I created.

Back in 2011, I created a database called CuyahogaJOBS.us that catalogued our human and natural resources, to easily satisfy the needs of companies worldwide. And as a result, a local economy that was struggling in 2010 is thriving in 2014.

The Lanci Administration made Greater Cleveland the export capital of the mid-west by promoting Cleveland manufacturing and opening up more markets for new Cleveland products. Our port is busy and making money for the county.

We have restored fairness to the property tax system. Citizen's appeals are being heard by qualified appraisers, and outcomes are based upon the true value of their properties, not the value of their political friendships.

And we have restored honor to public service. In 2014, our front pages were filled with county employees lending a hand to members of the community, rather being led away in handcuffs as was the case in 2010. We have balanced the budget, while setting the highest standard of Human Services. Not by cutting services or raising taxes, but by growing our way out of hard times, and turning the fat in county government into muscle, just as I did in business.

I earned four dollars for my four years as Executive, saving you one million dollars, and we are now the leader in job creation and youth retention, rather than poverty and foreclosures. That was the deal of a lifetime. Who would have thought that so much could be turned around and achieved in only four years? I did. And you did too by voting for me.

If you like this future world, elect the jobs creator as your County Executive. If you like the current world of a dysfunctional county mired in high unemployment, hopelessness, unfair property tax assessments, and partisan bickering, then feel free to vote for my opponents. They created this system and will perpetuate it.

I'm Ken Lanci, the Independent, for 40 years I have been turning around failing organizations, creating jobs, and turning failure into success. I am a crisis manager, and we are in crisis. Put me to work for one dollar a year and you will get the change you seek.”
