As we gather for fireworks and picnics with family and friends, we must remember that 234 years ago today a new nation was born. One conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
"When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another...began the document that led to the first truly representative democracy in the modern world.”
Today we celebrate those visionary Founding Fathers and find renewed hope of yet another Declaration of Independence – Issue 6, which was overwhelming supported by Cuyahoga County residents to help break ties with corruption and ineffective government.
I’ve already celebrated my own Independence Day on January 13 when I announced my candidacy for the first Cuyahoga County Executive position. I’ve offered myself as a true Independent and political outsider with the experience necessary to turn this county around.
So as we contemplate what Independence truly means to Cuyahoga County, I say let’s make voter’s vision a reality and bring back honest government. Let’s bring real change, real job creation and real progress to residents.
Happy Independence Day and remember that just as The Revolution was hard fought and hard won over many years, so will our independence from our current condition. But with a business patriot in office and a true Independent free of political parties and corporations, I will go into office owing no one anything believing in Jobs and Progress for everyone in Cuyahoga County.
